3D CAD Screens

Open and interact with vehicle CAD screens, use look around or tablet mode, and configure vehicles with the current screen editor.

Players: Use an Installed Screen

A visible CAD display is a preview. Open CAD to take control of its mouse and keyboard. You do not need to run calibration commands to use a vehicle your POC has already configured.

  1. Sit inside the configured vehicle and stop. The current demo has a working 62charger configuration; other vehicle models need their own setup.
  2. If CAD opens as a popup, close it, run /cad 3dstatus, then /cad enable3d if your preference is tablet.
  3. Run /cad or press your Open Spartan CAD key (F6 by default). The camera moves to the saved screen view and the mouse cursor becomes available.
  4. Move the pointer onto the actual CAD screen and click a button or text field. Type after selecting the field. Use the wheel to scroll; double-click records where the CAD workflow calls for it.
  5. If mouse movement turns your view instead of moving the pointer, press Left Alt once to leave look-around mode. Then click the screen again.
  6. Press Escape to leave interaction. A menu or form can handle the first press; press again once it is dismissed.

The driver opening limit is 30 MPH in the current demo. A custom keybind or different server setting may change the defaults here.

Look Around and Tablet Preference

ControlBehavior
Left Alt / /cadlookToggle look around while a streamed 3D screen is open. Mouse movement looks around while enabled; toggle again to restore the cursor and screen controls.
/cad disable3dSave your preference for the normal popup CAD. If vehicle CAD is open, it switches to the popup; if closed, run /cad afterward.
/cad enable3dRestore the preference for supported vehicle screens. Close and reopen CAD afterward.
/cad 3dstatusReport your saved preference.
/movecadMove or resize the popup CAD window.

The display preference is saved locally in FiveM and is available only when the POC enables TabletPreference. Look around can also be disabled or rebound by the POC. Check FiveM keybind settings for Toggle SpartanCAD 3D screen look around. If the POC changes the default key, the plugin's NuiKeyCode must match the key used while CAD has focus.

The current preview options allow a live first-person display and a static third-person preview. A static preview is expected and does not indicate that interaction has failed. Open /cad before trying to click.

POCs: Configure a Vehicle

Enable PluginsConfig.Spartan3DScreen.Enabled in client/plugins/spartan_3dScreen/3d_screen_plugin_config.lua. Saved placements are in client/plugins/spartan_3dScreen/vehicles.json. Back up that file before editing or copying placements: saved changes apply to that vehicle model for your server.

Use /setcadscreen for the current setup workflow. It creates a vehicle entry if needed and opens the screen editor. The older /setcadview, /setcadfit, and /setcadhitbox calibration workflow is superseded for this setup; those commands may still be registered in older or compatibility builds. They are not player interaction steps.

  1. Start the vehicle resource, spawn the intended model using your server's normal vehicle tools, and sit in it while stationary.
  2. Run /setcadscreen. If the model is new, wait for initialization and the editor to open.
  3. Drag the screen plane and its edge handles to cover the usable display. Use the translation and rotation controls to match its position and angle.
  4. Use C to inspect from another view. Use V to edit the camera players get when opening CAD. Return to screen editing with C.
  5. Press Enter to save and exit. Wait for the success notification. Escape cancels the current editor adjustments. Creating a new entry or pasting a configuration writes that entry before the editor opens; canceling subsequent edits does not undo that initialization or paste.
  6. Open /cad and test clicks near all four corners and the center, text entry, scrolling, and look around. A screen that looks aligned still needs an interaction check.
  7. Re-enter the vehicle and test again. Keep a copy of the working vehicles.json.

Copy Between Vehicles

Run /copycadscreen while seated in a configured source vehicle. Enter the target vehicle and run /pastecadscreen. Pasting saves a configuration for the target and opens its editor for adjustment. Similar interiors may still need a different position, size, or camera; test interaction after saving.

The Demo 62charger

The working demo entry is named 062 Dodge Charger with spawn code 62charger. It uses Mode: "stream", a saved Camera, and an enabled WorldScreen with four corners. Its texture targets are 62charger and 62charger+hi, both using cf33_Display_Template.

Those names and coordinates apply to that specific vehicle asset. Renaming another car to 62charger does not give it the same display geometry. Preserve the working entry as a reference and use the editor for other models. If manually editing vehicles.json, keep it valid JSON, run /cadtextures reload, and reopen CAD.

POC Acceptance Check

Test with the same vehicle asset and current resource version your players use. Confirm opening, clicking all screen edges, typing, scrolling, Left Alt out and back, Escape, tablet preference, ALPR display if enabled, and a second player's view. Include the vehicle spawn code, resource version, saved preference, and exact failing step when requesting support. Do not include your integration key.
